In this painting I attempted to capture the duality of solid forms and light on the surface of water. While the large Victoria lily pads sit firmly on the surface of the water, the colors and shapes of reflected light seemingly become part of the water itself. This theme has intrigued artists for centuries and perhaps never been expressed more beautifully than by Claude Monet. I took artistic license, heightening and exaggerating the colors to create an even more dreamlike effect to the scene.
